A school begun by parents, and grown on nothing but their word
In June 2017, a group of parents opened a school with twenty-two children and four teachers in rented rooms. They had a single, uncomfortable question in mind: can a school build character as deliberately as it builds marks?
Nine years later, BMS runs from its own purpose-built block in Yewalewadi with 240 children in Grade I to Grade VIII and a faculty of fifteen — and it has never once advertised. Every year of growth has come from one family telling another.
Founding principles
Three words, and everything that follows from them
Our motto is not decoration. Each word maps onto something the school actually does every week.
Character
Integrity, empathy, discipline and genuine respect for others — taught explicitly through the house system, and modelled daily by the adults in the building.
Competence
Knowledge, skills and creativity, plus the confidence to use all three in a situation the child has never seen before. Learning ends in application, not recall.
Devotion
Wholeheartedness — giving your full attention to the work in front of you, keeping the responsibilities you have taken on, and caring about the people around you.
Academics
Seed, sapling, tree — the three stages of a BMS education
The school’s own names for its stages map directly onto the NEP 2020 structure, which gives every parent and every inspector the same frame of reference.
Facilities
Rooms built for the work that happens in them
29,500 sq ft on the school’s own land: five working laboratories, a library, a music room, an art room, an activity hall and a ground large enough for the whole school.
Classrooms
Twenty-six classrooms with natural light on two sides and movable tables that regroup in under a minute.
Integrated Science Lab
An integrated laboratory in which physics, chemistry and biology share a single well-appointed room, with microscopes, a reagent store and safety equipment always at hand.
Library & Reading Room
A quiet reading room with study tables, a lending collection and a reading period timetabled for every class.
ICT & Robotics Labs
A computer laboratory of twenty workstations on filtered wi-fi, and a tinkering bench where children build rather than watch.
Open Ground
A ground large enough for the whole school to stand on, used every day for games periods, athletics and assembly.
Music & Dance Rooms
Instruments, a choir, classical and folk dance — an art form for every child, not only for the school team.
Art & Craft Room
Drawing, painting, clay and pottery, with work from every grade on the walls through the year.
Indoor Games
Chess, carrom and board games for the monsoon weeks, plus an indoor space for yoga and mallakhamb.

Admissions
Six steps, and no written entrance test for the primary years
The whole process is set out in plain terms, with the documents you will need and the fee schedule issued alongside the prospectus.

Enquire
Call or visit the school office. You will be given the prospectus and the fee schedule, and a time to see the campus.

Visit the school
Come during school hours and see ordinary classes in progress. We do not stage lessons for visitors.

Submit the form
Complete the admission form and submit it with the listed documents and the registration fee.

Interaction
An informal interaction with the child and a conversation with the parents. There is no written entrance test for the primary years.

Offer of a seat
Where a seat is available, the school confirms admission in writing with a date by which the fee must be paid.

Orientation
New children and their parents attend an orientation before the year opens and meet the class teacher.

The seven questions we are asked most often
The school follows a CBSE-aligned curriculum and runs from Grade I to Grade VIII. Teaching is in English, and the structure of the stages follows NEP 2020.
There are 240 children in the whole school across 26 classrooms. A division is kept to 25 children in the pre-primary years and 35 in the primary years, with a teacher–student ratio of 1:16.
No. Admission follows an informal interaction with the child and a conversation with the parents. There is no written entrance test for the primary years.
The school keeps a set of portable projectors that are brought into a classroom for the lesson that needs one — a simulation, a map, a piece of recorded music. There is filtered campus wi-fi at every teaching point and a computer laboratory of twenty workstations. Where counters and chalk do the job better, that is what the room uses.
CCTV covers the classrooms, corridors, stairwells, laboratories, ground, forecourt and gates. Extinguishers are mounted on every level with service tags, fire drills are held with the whole school, and visitors are received at a supervised reception.
Yes — buses run on set routes with staff supervision at boarding. Route details and the current route-wise fee are confirmed by the school office.
Any ordinary school day. The office is open Monday to Friday, 8.00 am – 3.30 pm; call first so that someone is free to walk you around.

We do not stage a demonstration lesson for visitors. Call the office, come in during school hours, and see the school exactly as your child would find it. That visit will tell you more than any brochure.
