Sports & Games
A games period for every grade every week, an open ground, inter-house leagues and a sports day the whole school competes in.
At Bhaktivedanta Model School, sports and physical education are integral to holistic development. Our programme nurtures physical fitness, discipline, teamwork, resilience and leadership while encouraging every student to adopt an active and healthy lifestyle.
Physical education is part of the school day, not an add-on. Every grade has a games period on the timetable, taken by a physical-education teacher, and every child is in it. The open ground at the centre of the campus carries the morning assembly, the games periods, drill practice and the annual sports day; when the monsoon closes it, the games period moves to the indoor hall and the games rooms.

What is coached
Basketball
Basketball sessions help students develop agility, coordination, teamwork and decision-making. Regular coaching and practice give them the chance to strengthen their game and take part in inter-school competitions.
Table tennis
An engaging indoor sport that enhances reflexes, concentration, hand–eye coordination and strategic thinking. Students receive regular practice and are encouraged to enter competitive events.
Chess & carrom
Chess develops logical reasoning, patience and analytical skills, while carrom improves precision, focus and coordination. Both foster healthy competition and cognitive growth.
Taekwondo
An important part of the physical education programme, promoting self-defence, confidence, discipline, flexibility and mental resilience. Students train under qualified instructors and are encouraged to take grading examinations and enter competitions.
Traditional sports and fitness
BMS celebrates India’s rich sporting heritage by integrating traditional physical activities into the sports programme. These build strength, balance, courage, discipline and cultural awareness while supporting overall fitness.
Rope mallakhamb
Develops flexibility, grip strength, balance, endurance and body control through a series of structured exercises performed on a suspended rope.
Pole mallakhamb
Combines gymnastics, yoga and athletic movement to improve core strength, agility, coordination and confidence, while encouraging determination and perseverance.
Lathi kathi
A traditional Indian martial art that promotes physical fitness, coordination, alertness, self-discipline and self-defence, and helps students appreciate India’s cultural traditions.
