Counsellor’s Room
A private, quiet room where a child can talk to a trained counsellor without the whole school knowing about it.
The counsellor's room is deliberately away from the corridor traffic, with a door that closes and no glass panel. A child can walk in during a break, or be referred by a class teacher or a parent.
The school counsellor handles academic difficulty, examination anxiety, friendship and behaviour matters, and adolescent-stage concerns, and refers on to an external specialist where that is the right step. What is said in the room stays in the room, with the single exception of a disclosure that requires action under our child-protection protocol.
What it holds
- Trained school counsellor on campus
- Self-referral by children, or referral by teacher or parent
- Learning-difficulty screening and support planning
- Examination stress, behaviour and peer-relationship work
- Adolescent-stage sessions by age group
- Confidential, subject to the child-protection protocol
Come and see the school on an ordinary day — call the office and we will keep someone free to walk you around.
