Mental mathematics, Sanskrit, coding, the arts, mallakhamb and yoga — taught on the timetable, assessed, and open to every child.
Skill subjects at BMS are not a Friday-afternoon arrangement. Each has a period on the timetable, a teacher who specialises in it, and a place in the report card.
Alongside the school's own enrichment subjects, we offer the CBSE-approved skill subjects at every level to build practical knowledge and employability.
CBSE-approved skill subjects
Lilavati Ganit
Mental and speed mathematics, named after Bhaskaracharya’s classical treatise and taught as arithmetic technique: faster computation, and methods that let a child check their own answer.
Sanskrit
Taught across all grades. It sharpens grammar and etymology in every other language a child studies, and gives access to a large body of literature in the original.
Coding & IT literacy
Block-based programming in the primary years moving to text-based programming in the middle school, plus documents, spreadsheets, presentation and digital citizenship.
Design & making
Tinker-lab work with sensors, motors and hand tools: children take a project from a sketch to a working model, and learn to plan a build.
Art, craft, music & dance
Four timetabled arts subjects with specialist teachers, an annual exhibition of children’s work, and performance at school events.
Yoga & mallakhamb
Graded asana and pranayama for every grade, and mallakhamb — traditional pole gymnastics — for grip strength, core stability and nerve.
