School House System

Four houses, every child in one from Grade I, and a year-long competition that carries responsibility as well as points.

Every child from Grade I belongs to one of four houses, and stays in it for their whole time at the school. Siblings are placed in the same house, which makes the loyalty real at home too.

Each house is led by a House Captain and Vice-Captain from the senior grades, with a teacher as House Mistress or Master, and each has a set of standing duties — assembly, discipline, cleanliness, the notice board — that rotate through the year. Points come from competitions, but also from attendance, punctuality and the state of the house's own corner of the school.

The four houses

Earth

Prithvi

For steadiness, patience and holding your ground.

Water

Jal

For adaptability, persistence and finding a way through.

Fire

Agni

For energy, courage and doing the difficult thing first.

Air

Vayu

For speed, reach and lifting the people around you.

What the houses run

  • Inter-house sports league and the annual sports day
  • Elocution, debate, quiz and spelling competitions
  • Art, craft, rangoli and bulletin-board contests
  • Music, dance and dramatics competitions
  • Cleanliness, punctuality and discipline points
  • The house shield, awarded at the annual day

Positions of responsibility

School Captain, House Captains and Vice-Captains, club secretaries, library and laboratory monitors, and the Proctorial Board — every senior child holds something, and is answerable for it.

Come and see the school on an ordinary day — call the office and we will keep someone free to walk you around.
